Gear carried into the field is part of the run's risk. A failed extraction can cost both the equipment you brought and the loot you found. PvE revival can provide a recovery path in eligible situations, while a PvP defeat is intentionally more punishing.
What is actually at risk
- Equipment and consumables committed to the active run.
- Loot gathered during that run but not successfully returned to Windrest.
- Time and task progress that requires a successful extraction.
PvE and PvP are different
The official design gives players more recovery room when defeated by monsters or environmental danger. That protection does not make every death recoverable, and it is not intended to remove the stakes of being defeated by another player.
In trio play, a downed player may depend on teammates and the exact way the defeat occurred. Confirm the current mode rules before risking a rare kit.
A practical gear rule
Bring the best kit you can afford to replace—not automatically the best item in your warehouse. Upgrade the risk only when the stronger kit meaningfully improves the objective you plan to attempt.
